Lions are:
- Ordinary people who belong to one of the world's largest service organisations, with 1.35 million volunteers worldwide active in 208 countries.
- People who give something back to their communities, who recognise the needs of others and set about meeting those needs.
- People who enjoy themselves and include fun in their caring attitudes
People who give their time freely to help others in their local, national and international communities. - Men and women of all ages, who enjoy helping and being part of their community, having fun and fostering friendship
Lions clubs are divided into Districts, Regions and Zones (Chelmsford is in Zone B of Region 2 in District 105CE) and nationally (although individual clubs operate autonomously, with decisions voted upon by members of that club).

Chelmsford Club was formed in 1969 and celebrates its anniversary or ‘Charter' in November. We always welcome new members to our active and friendly club.
The aim of our club is to help local causes and community while having fun. As well as a wide social calendar we regularly help out at community events wherever there is a need for extra help (see Gallery pictures).
We meet on the second Wednesday each month and every fourth Wednesday for a social night (see Gallery pictures) to see just some of what we get up to).
