Christmas 2020 Sleigh Route

Chelmsford Lions are delighted to announce dates and venues for our Santa sleigh tour this Christmas. Please be aware that this is subject to government COVID-19 restrictions and will be operated without door to door collections this year and Santa will be moving slowly along on his Sleigh, so with regret won’t be available for photographs with people. We will shortly be opening an online giving page for donations to the listed charities. Each route will commence at 6.30pm unless otherwise stated and we plan to add an online tracker to this website shortly so you can see exactly when Santa will pass your address. Check back here soon.

and in the New Year we’ve got to think about Christmas Tree collection!

We are helping Farleigh Hospice with tree collection and have expanded the collection area to cover more postcodes in mid-Essex, so select HERE to find out if you are in a collection area.

Lions have a permit from the local Council, but there is a possibility that it might be withdrawn if we fail to come out of Lockdown as planned, keep fingers crossed!

Green Lion Message in a Bottle

Message in a Bottle is where you keep essential personal and medication details in a small bottle in the fridge.

Paramedics, police, fire-fighters and social services know to look in the fridge when they see the Message in a Bottle stickers.

This can be really helpful if the person you care for has a condition that can suddenly change so that they need medical help; such as diabetes or allergies.

The Message in a Bottle scheme is run across the UK by our Lions Clubs.

Here is a list of outlets for Message in a Bottle.

50th Charter Anniversary Celebrations

Members of Chelmsford Lions, Lionesses and Leos took part in the Vitality Mile in London recently alongside the Special Olympians.

Our aim is to help local causes while having fun. As well as a wide social calendar, we regularly help out at community events wherever there is a need, such as the recent Race of Business in aid of Age UK. We meet on the second Wednesday each month at our hall in Springfield Road and every fourth Wednesday for a social night (see pics on our 'Social Calendar' pages to see just some of what we get up to).

Much of our fundraising activities are based around social activities, such as quiz nights, pub nights, raft races and our annual pig race night, to name but a few!

We are probably best known in Chelmsford for our 'carol sleigh' on which Father Christmas visits the residential areas of Chelmsford and the town centre, spreading festive cheer while collecting for a range of good causes (see Charities).
