CHARITIES
We support many local, national and international charities through our fund raising and here are some examples:-
Our Christmas carol float collections in the city and around the streets of Chelmsford have through the generosity of the public enabled us to help the following charities -
- Farleigh Hospice supports people in mid Essex with life limiting illnesses -

- Helen Rollason Cancer Charity supports cancer patients emotional well being alongside medical treatments -
- Mencap supporting people with learning difficulties -
- Chess an emergency support scheme for the homeless in Chelmsford -
- Little Havens Hospice supporting children and their families in Essex who have life limiting illnesses -
- Guide Dogs for the Blind providing mobility for the blind and partially sighted -
Our Swimarathon in which teams competed and swam for an hour in relay to raise sponsorship supported:-
- Hearing Dogs for the Deaf which trains and provides dogs to deaf people to alert them to sounds they would otherwise miss -
- Medecins Sans Frontieres providing medical aid where it is needed most in the world often in war torn countries -
- Safer Places an independent domestic abuse charity based in Essex dedicated to supporting women, men and children affected by domestic violence -
- Cancer Research UK researching cures and treatments to improve survival rates and improved quality of life for cancer patients -
- J’s Hospice building respite and hospice care for 16-
40 year olds from Essex with life limiting conditions - www.thejshospice.org.uk - Parkinsons UK supporting better care, treatments and quality of life for sufferers of the disease which is a progressive neurological condition -
A number of our members completed a sponsored walk of the South Downs Way in support of:
- Diabetes UK the leading UK charity that cares for, connects with and campaigns on behalf of all people affected by diabetes -
Our Annual Quiz raised money for:
- Motor Neurones Disease Association provides information and support to sufferers of this disease which affects the brain’s nervous system -
We also support many charities through our work in the community:-
- Helping out with tin collections for Marie Curie Cancer Care provides care and support for people living with any terminal illness and their families -
- Helping out in the mobile Christmas Shop in Chelmsford library for Cards for Good Causes the UK’s largest multi charity Christmas card organisation providing a retail outlet for many charities -
- Helping out with tin collections, sponsored event marshalling and the Christmas Tree collection and Recycling Service for Farleigh Hospice -

In addition to the above charities as members of Lions Club International we support the work of The Lions Club International Foundation. LCIF helps improve peoples’ lives around the world from combating vision problems to responding to major catastrophes and providing valuable life skills to youth -
